Analysis and Comparison of Exercise Cards in the Catalog

A detailed and comparative analysis of the catalog entry cards, divided by required equipment, categories, and listed primary muscles.

Overview of Equipment Requirements in the Cards

Analyzing the information recorded in the catalog reveals a clear division of exercises based on the tools specified in the individual entry cards. The elements range from a total absence of equipment to the use of complex machinery or suspension systems.

Bodyweight Exercises or Exercises with Optional Accessories

Some cards indicate that no primary equipment is required, reporting at most an optional support item:

  • Tilt pelvico: presents in its equipment list the text 'Nessun attrezzo (corpo libero)' and 'Tappetino da ginnastica (opzionale)'.
  • Tacco incrociato: reports the same indications, 'Nessun attrezzo (corpo libero)' with 'Tappetino da ginnastica (opzionale)'.
  • Affondo in inchino con ginocchio in alto: also specifies 'Nessun attrezzo (corpo libero)' and an optional 'Tappetino da ginnastica (opzionale)'.
  • Nuoto e jogging in piedi: shares the same bodyweight entry with an option for the mat.

Exercises with Specific Equipment or Machinery

The other entry cards in the list require well-defined devices for their execution:

Comparison Between Categories and Registered Primary Muscles

In addition to the differences relating to equipment, the cards are distinguished by classification categories and by the muscle groups listed in the primary muscles field.

Comparison of Entries Within the Braccia Category

In the catalog, there are three exercises belonging to the 'Braccia' category:

Although they share the same category, each entry presents a different combination of muscles or specific muscle head details, in addition to differing in technical equipment requirements (cable machine versus elastic band).

Comparison of Entries in the Pliometria, Schiena, and Anche e glutei Categories

- Pliometria: the entry cards Tacco incrociato, Affondo in inchino con ginocchio in alto, and Nuoto e jogging in piedi all fall into this category. All three indicate 'Retto femorale' among the primary muscles. However, the first combines it with 'Tibiale anteriore', the second with 'Grande gluteo', and the third with 'Deltoide anteriore'. - Schiena: the card for Rematore alto presa stretta con elastico lists 'Trapezio superiore' and 'Gran dorsale (Latissimus dorsi)', while the card for High row a un braccio ai cavi con supporto per il petto lists three primary muscles: 'Gran dorsale (Latissimus dorsi)', 'Trapezio superiore', and 'Trapezio medio'.

- Addome and Petto: the card Ginocchia ai gomiti appesi agli anelli is classified under 'Addome' with primary muscles 'Retto addominale' and 'Ileopsoas'. Finally, Panca piana esplosiva con bilanciere belongs to the 'Petto' category and specifies 'Gran pettorale' and 'Tricipite brachiale' as primary muscles.
